On Sunday, April 7, two Samford University music students, Shannon Boutwell and James Powers, competed in the Alabama Music Teachers Association (AMTA) Piano Competition. Powers received honorable mention in the upper division and Boutwell secured first place in the lower division.

In April, Samford University Brock School of Business hosted several awards ceremonies recognizing the hard work of its students. Nearly $300,000 in scholarships were awarded to deserving business students to apply to tuition for the 2024-25 academic year.

Helping Heroes: C-VETS Clinic Serves More Than 600 U.S. Veterans Since Inception
Samford University Cumberland School of Law’s Veterans Legal Assistance Clinic (C-VETS), which was founded in the fall of 2020, provides free legal assistance to veterans and their families across the state of Alabama. Since its inception, 62 volunteer law students have served more than 600 veterans, including 239 in the 2023-24 year alone.

Samford University's Howard College of Arts and Sciences junior TJ Riggs, a law politics and society major, has been named a 2024 Truman Scholar by the Harry S. Truman Scholarship Foundation. Riggs is the first Samford student to receive this prestigious national scholarship since 2002 and only the fifth recipient in Samford’s history.
